Course Details

Location: Lower Hutt Campus
Time: Friday mornings, 10 AM–1 PM
Dates: 7th February – 4th April

  • Weeks 1–3: Bold Acrylic Painting with Alina Gane-Hurcomb
  • Weeks 4–6: Abstract Mark-Making with Alayna Flighty
  • Weeks 7–9: Landscape Painting with Marc Hill
Materials to Bring:

A detailed materials list will be sent with your confirmation email. If you've painted before, you likely have most of what you'll need! Here's a quick overview:

Bold Acrylic Painting

  • Acrylic paints (no oils)
  • Brushes, paper, and printed reference images

Abstract Mark-Making

  • Chalk pastels, charcoal, and acrylic paints
  • Brushes, an acrylic paint pad, and unique mark-making items (e.g., sticks, bottle caps, bubble wrap)

Landscape Painting

  • Bring your own paints if you have them!
  • First-timers can purchase a starter gouache kit (includes paints, brushes, and a pad) for $30.

No Experience? No Problem!

This course is designed for everyone—from absolute beginners to experienced artists looking for fresh inspiration. Your tutors will guide you every step of the way.

If you wish to cancel, email us at least 14 clear days before your class begins. You'll receive a full refund less an admin fee of $20 via the same payment method (e.g., credit card or Afterpay) if you cancel within this timeframe.

This class will be held on campus at The Learning Connexion located at 182 Eastern Hutt Road, Lower Hutt. Specific details of where on campus your class will be held will be sent to you the week prior to the commencement of your class

All our tutors are qualified and practicing artists who are skilled in specific art forms and regularly teach to support others in their own art practices.
