Date: Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th January, 10:30AM till 4:30PM
Led by professional visual artist Sheyne Tuffery, this weekend will introduce you to Found Object Printing on Saturday, using textures from nature and everyday items to create intricate compositions. Then, on Sunday, you'll explore Monoprinting, diving into tracing techniques and mastering the manipulation of ink to craft original, one-of-a-kind prints.

Day 1: Found Object Printing
Explore the potential of everyday items—like lace, rubber mats, or dried leaves—to create textured prints through an experimental process called relief printing. Learn techniques such as embossing, hand burnishing, and ghost printing to produce layered compositions. -
Day 2: Monoprinting
Dive into the world of traditional monoprinting, where you'll learn to manipulate ink on a transfer plate using tools like brushes and cotton buds. Experiment with direct ink application onto plates and discover how to create varying tones and textures through pressure and ink manipulation.

By the end of this workshop, you’ll not only have created at least 10 x A3-sized prints but will also have the confidence to apply these techniques at home using everyday items. You’ll master the skill of turning found objects and simple materials into creative masterpieces and use monotype printing techniques to elevate your work

Tutor Bio: Sheyne Tuffery
Sheyne Tuffery is an accomplished visual artist with over 30 years of printmaking experience. His work has evolved from traditional woodblock prints to a multi-technique approach that celebrates one-of-a-kind creations.
A dedicated teacher, Sheyne has spent over 25 years leading workshops for students of all ages, blending his technical expertise with a passion for pushing creative boundaries.

What are found objects?
Found objects are everyday items—like dried leaves, lace, or rubber mats—that you can collect from nature, thrift stores, or around your home. In this workshop, you'll learn how to use these objects to create textured prints.
Do I need any experience to join?
No prior experience is needed. This workshop is open to all levels, from beginners to those with some printmaking knowledge.
What materials should I bring?
Please bring an apron, a couple of small paint brushes, a pencil, and A4-sized photocopies of images you’d like to replicate in monoprinting. Bring any found objects you might have that inspire you to create interesting textures. Due to the location of the workshop there will be access to a lot of nature that may also inspire you on the day.
How many prints will I make?
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have created at least 10 unique A3-sized prints!
If you wish to cancel, email us at least 14 clear days before your class begins. You'll receive a full refund less an admin fee of $20 via the same payment method (e.g., credit card or Afterpay) if you cancel within this timeframe.
Unfortunately, refunds aren't available for cancellations with less than 14 days' notice, nor for missed classes within a series.

This class will be held on campus at The Learning Connexion located at 182 Eastern Hutt Road, Lower Hutt. Specific details of where on campus your class will be held will be sent to you the week prior to the commencement of your class
