Bring your favourite pet or animal to life in a beautiful pastel drawing in our fun and intensive two-day Animals in Pastel workshop! Designed for all skill levels, this workshop will guide you through the techniques of creating lifelike and vibrant pet portraits using soft pastels. 

From learning the basics of observational drawing to mastering the nuances of blending and texture creation, you’ll leave with the skills and confidence to continue creating stunning animal portraits.

    Alina is a mid-career visual artist based in the Hutt Valley, known for her captivating blend of realism and impressionistic elements. Her work has been exhibited internationally, including a notable showing at the Louvre, where it resonated with diverse audiences. 


    An experienced tutor at the Learning Connexion, she nurtures the next generation of artists while drawing inspiration from music, world events, historical architecture, animals, and feminism. 


    Her art not only reflects her surroundings but also engages with broader themes, inviting viewers to explore the intricate connections between the personal and the universal.

    When & where is this class?
    Animals in Pastel is being held at The Learning Connexion, 182 Eastern Hutt Rd, Lower Hutt Wellington on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th November, 10AM to 3PM
    Do I need to bring any materials to my class?
    Bring your enthusiasm and a reference image of your favorite animal if you have one! 
    Plus you will need the following:
    • Soft pastels (not Reeves brand) 
    • Graphite 
    • Putty Eraser or normal eraser 
    • Blending stump or tool 
    • Reference images of animals 
    • Sketchpad or pastel paper 
    Please also bring a packed lunch and some water as it will be a busy couple of days creating
    Can I buy a voucher for this class?
    At this time gift vouchers are unavailable for this workshop. 
    Can anyone do this class?
    Evening Classes and Weekend Workshops at The Learning Connexion are open to anyone aged 16 and above. Your enrollment is confirmed only upon successful payment processing.

    What is the cancellation policy?
    To cancel, email us at least 14 clear days before the workshop or series begins. You'll receive a full refund less an admin fee of $20 via the same payment method (e.g., credit card or Afterpay) if you cancel within this timeframe. Unfortunately, refunds aren't available for cancellations with less than 14 days' notice, nor for missed classes.
