Lino-Print Christmas Cards
Date: Saturday 8th November | 9:30am - 3:00pm
With Tutor: Jolene Maciak
A fun, festive, and relaxed introduction to Lino printing, perfect for beginners.
You will learn how to design, transfer, and carve your own Christmas-themed lino block, then ink and print it to create a unique set of hand-printed greeting cards, wrapping paper, and gift tags.
The class covers the essentials of linocut printing, including safe carving techniques, inking, and printing methods. All tools and materials are provided, and you will take home both your finished prints and your carved lino block, so you can continue your printmaking journey at home.
The workshop begins with a demonstration of the printing process, along with a display of Jolene’s own hand-printed Christmas cards for inspiration. Participants will then plan and sketch their designs, with plenty of reference images, tracing paper, and guidance available to help you transfer your ideas onto their lino blocks.
Next, you’ll carve your block using lino cutting tools, apply ink with rollers, and print your design onto greeting cards using either a printing press or hand-printing techniques. This process can be repeated to create each card in black, red, or green ink. The same lino block can then be used to print on wrapping paper and gift tags. If time allows, participants may also carve additional smaller blocks to expand their festive designs.
