Come explore Drawing with Collage in this awesome one-off, affordable 2-hour workshop that’s all about playful experimentation and creative freedom. You’ll learn simple, accessible collage techniques and clever tricks for combining found imagery with drawing, then discover how to layer in your own marks to make the work uniquely yours. Perfect for curious beginners and experienced artists alike, this session is a fast, fun way to loosen up, try something new, and leave with a finished piece and fresh ideas to keep exploring.
What You'll Learn:
We'll cover simple, effective collage techniques that anyone can master, and explore how to seamlessly combine drawing, painting, and found imagery to create unique mixed media pieces. You'll discover mark-making approaches that help you develop your own distinctive visual style, learn strategies for embracing spontaneity and letting go of perfection in your creative process. You will learn about the different glues and adhesives which work best for collaging, along with how to work back into them with different materials.
What You'll Take Home:
A selection of collages/drawings and knowledge of how best to use your own materials to create amazing artworks.

Meet your Tutor:
Toni is an artist and printmaker with a strong passion for works on paper, including prints, drawings, and artist books. When she’s not teaching, she works from her studio, Blue Bathtub Press, creating work inspired by the people she meets and the stories she tells.
What to Bring:
- Any old drawings, prints or paintings you’d like to work on top of (no larger than A3)
- Any materials you’d like to use (e.g. pens, pencils, inks etc.)
There will be $10 themed collage packs (20-25 pieces) available to purchase directly from the tutor on the night, for those who would like to buy them.
What Will Be Provided:
- Glue and adhesives
- 2-3 sheets of mixed media paper each
- Gesso
- Items to collage
Can Anyone Do This Class?
Yes! This workshop is suitable for all levels, and absolutely beginner-friendly. If you love being creative, you’ll fit right in.
If you wish to cancel, email us at least 14 clear days before your class begins. You'll receive a full refund less an admin fee of $20 via the same payment method (e.g., credit card or Afterpay) if you cancel within this timeframe.
Unfortunately, refunds aren't available for cancellations with less than 14 days' notice, nor for missed classes within a series.

This class will be held on campus at The Learning Connexion located at 182 Eastern Hutt Road, Lower Hutt. Specific details of where on campus your class will be held will be sent to you the week prior to the commencement of your class
