This Term's Theme: Pilgrimage to Self

Creativity isn’t just about making art - it can also help us slow down, reconnect and discover fresh perspectives.

Nourish is a seven-week abstract painting course that blends creative exploration with gentle reflective practice. Designed for complete beginners through to experienced artists, the course offers a welcoming and supportive space to experiment with colour, texture, symbolism and intuitive mark-making while creating a deeply personal work of art.

Across seven weeks you’ll gradually create an original Abstract Self or Soul Portrait, exploring colour, texture, symbolism and intuitive mark-making as you build a richly layered personal artwork.

Each week’s activities encourage imagination, spontaneity and creative confidence while providing inspiration for the final stages of the Soul Portrait.

Throughout the course, tutor Jordan Harcourt-Hughes will be sharing a curated selection of contemporary abstract and spiritual painters who have influenced her own artistic practice.  You’ll get the chance to consider how they use colour, symbolism, texture and abstraction to communicate ideas that can't always be expressed through words and explore new techniques in your own artworks.

Rather than focusing on artistic perfection, the course invites you to enjoy the process of exploration. No previous painting experience is necessary, just a willingness to experiment, play and discover what emerges.

What You'll Learn:

By participating in this course, learners will:

  • Explore the foundations of abstract painting through colour, texture, layering and play.
  • Develop confidence painting intuitively without worrying about getting it "right".
  • Discover mindful painting practices that encourage calm, focus and creative flow.
  • Explore symbolism and narrative through visual storytelling exercises.
  • Learn about a range of contemporary abstract and spiritual painters.

What You’ll Create:

Each participant will leave the course with:

  • A completed Abstract Soul Portrait.
  • A collection of painting studies and experiments.
  • Greater confidence with abstract painting.
  • Creative practices to continue exploring beyond the course.

A Refreshed Course

Returning students and those familiar with Jordan's previous Mindful Creativity course will notice an exciting evolution.

This new course journey allows participants to spend more time developing one substantial artwork while exploring the work of contemporary abstract painters and discovering new approaches to colour, symbolism and intuitive painting. The result is a slower, more immersive creative experience that encourages both artistic development and personal expression.
